1. Control Arm Body
The control arm body is manufactured using a die forging process from forged aluminum alloy. It weighs 40%–50% less than a steel arm but retains high rigidity, effectively reducing unsprung mass and sharpening handling response and ride smoothness.
2. Ball Joint Assembly
Ball Stud: The ball stud is made of bearing steel. After carburizing, quenching, and grinding, its surface becomes very hard and wear-resistant, allowing for precise and fluid steering motion.
Socket: The socket is molded from POM rubber and pre-lubricated with lithium grease. This design cuts down on friction and prevents squeaking between the ball stud and the socket.
Dust Boot: The dust boot is produced from chloroprene rubber, which stands up to oil and aging. It keeps sand, water, and other harmful debris away from the ball joint to avoid premature wear.
Preload Spring: The preload spring is formed from spring steel and supplies a steady preloading force to keep the assembly tight.
3. Bushing Assembly
Inner Sleeve: The inner sleeve is machined from 45# steel and coated with zinc or an electrophoretic layer to resist corrosion. It is rigidly bolted to the subframe or knuckle.
Rubber Element: The rubber element is composed of natural rubber and works as a hydraulic bushing with internal oil-filled chambers. It offers good elasticity and fatigue resistance, softening road shocks and blocking noise. The hydraulic feature also dampens high-frequency vibrations by moving oil through the chambers, improving ride comfort.
Outer Shell: The outer shell is fabricated from aluminum alloy. It is joined to the control arm body either by interference fit or welding, creating a durable connection between the bushing and the arm.
