The arm body is forged from aluminum alloy using a die forging process, giving it both low weight (40–50% lighter than a comparable steel arm) and high rigidity. This reduces unsprung mass, resulting in quicker handling response and a smoother ride.
2. Ball Joint Assembly
Ball stud: The stud is machined from bearing steel and then carburized, hardened, and ground. This produces a hard, wear‑resistant surface that allows for precise, low‑friction steering.
Ball socket (bearing cup): Made of POM (polyoxymethylene) and pre‑greased with lithium grease, the socket minimizes friction and dampens noise between the stud and the cup.
Dust boot: Formed from chloroprene rubber (CR), the boot resists oil and aging, sealing out dirt, sand, and moisture to prevent internal damage.
Preload spring: A spring steel component that applies a continuous preload force to keep the joint tight.
3. Bushing Assembly
Inner core: The core is made of 45# steel with a zinc or electrophoretic anti‑rust coating. It is bolted rigidly to the subframe or knuckle.
Rubber elastomer: The elastomer consists of natural rubber integrated with a hydraulic bushing that contains an internal oil chamber. This provides high elasticity and fatigue resistance, absorbing road shocks and filtering out noise. In addition, the hydraulic bushing attenuates high‑frequency vibrations by allowing oil to flow within the chamber, further improving ride comfort.
Outer housing: The housing is aluminum alloy, attached to the control arm body either by interference fit or welding, ensuring a robust connection between the bushing and the arm.
